General goal of the workshop

Graphs, graph based representations, use of graphs to represent the results of the learning process, structural learning are some of the topics that, due to their increasing importance, are to serceive special attention by the PASCAL network in 2007. In order to do this PASCAL has decided to launch a thematic programme « Graph Theory Methods in Machine Learning ». In Pattern Recognition the use of graphs has been an important focus of attention for some time now, with a specific track (15) of the IAPR, and a bi-annual event called GBR (Graphbased Representations in Pattern Recognition). In order to promote collaboration between the different communities interested in learning with and from graphs, we propose to hold a one day PASCAL workshop on learning from and with graphs, workshop that will take place just after GBR 2007.

We also encourage participants to the workshop to attend GBR 2007. The workshop consists in scientific talks (invited and submitted), and a « business meeting » to discuss the events inside the Thematic Programme. Researchers are encouraged to submit contributions on:

The workshop is intended to be a meeting point between researchers in the field over a selected number of items. We therefore encourage submissions of abstracts covering:

If in doubt about the fact that your work is suitable for presentation please contact the organiser.

Submission:
Please send a two-page abstract (including figures and references) to cdlh AT univ-st-etienne.fr

Registration and Practical issues

Registration

The registration fee is: Registration, including the early one, must be accepted by the organisers, i.e. must come from a scientist working in the field or showing interest in the field.

The goal of the workshop is to allow participation by all those interested. In order to do this the organisers are proposing a free registration until May 31st. This is possible thanks to the help of the PASCAL Network. But it also means that the organisers may have to limit the number of registrations.

Registration, including the early one, must be accepted by the organizers, i.e. must come from a scientist working in the field or showing interest in the field. It should be noted that the PASCAL network will sponsor the registration to GBR 2007 of a number of PASCAL members. Please consult Colin de la Higuera (cdlh@univ-st-etienne.fr) for details.

Registration should be done online at this address
