Jean-Christophe Janodet
I've moved
I'm now a full professor at the University of Evry (near Paris).
My new team is AMIS and new
lab is IBISC.
My new mail is janodet at ibisc.univ-evry.fr and new phone is (+33) 1 64 85 34 62.
My new address is IBISC, IBGBI building, 23 Bd de France, 91037 Evry cedex, France.
This page will soon be obsolete.
Welcome!
I'm about 38 years old, maried and the father of
Alexandre and
Martin.
I'm maître de conférences (professor assistant) at the
University of Saint-Etienne and
habilité à diriger des recherches.
I do my research in the Machine Learning
Research Team of the Laboratoire Hubert
Curien.
I discovered Computer Science at the
Ensimag,
a high school of the University of
Grenoble.
However, I chose to write a thesis, do research and teach instead of making a lot of money...
Research
-
I've investigated a few fields during the last decade:
-
During my PhD (<2001), Declarative Programming, Functional
Logic Languages, Operational Semantics, Data Types, Rewriting
Systems, Narrowing, Graph Grammars, Terms, Term Graphs, Rewriting and
Narrowing Strategies.
-
Since 2001, Grammatical Inference, Learning Paradigms,
String Languages, Automata and Grammars. I also tackled several
problems in Grammar Induction, Machine Learning, Noisy Data,
Ensemble Methods.
-
More recently, I've been working on Distances between Discrete Structures
(strings, plane graphs) with applications in Images Classification.
From a theoretical standpoint, distances are in the core of several
learning problem (e.g., grammatical inference from noisy data); On the
other hand, they may be optimized thanks to Learning Techniques (e.g.,
weights of the edit distance).
-
I'm involved in several projects:
-
the EU PASCAL Network of Excellence. Visit de website of the ZULU Competition.
-
the SATTIC project of
the ANR, that I coordinate
(waoh!).
-
the LAMPADA project of the ANR.
-
I've co-supervised the PhD theses of:
Finally, I'm co-supervising the PhD thesis of
Emilie Samuel with
Colin de la Higuera.
Teaching
-
I've been the manager of the Licence d'Informatique of Saint-Etienne since 2008.
-
I'm in the teaching staff of the CIMET
Erasmus Mundus Master and the Web Intelligence
Master of Saint-Etienne.
-
My main topics are:
-
Algorithmics (I prefer this book
to this one) and Programming Languages
-
Theoretical Computer Science (Formal Languages, Graphs)
